John Gray: A shattering moment in America's fall from power Comment is free | The Observer
John Gray is a bit of an apocalyptic writer. But, darn, he's right: while the US economy melts, the Chinese are doing space walks.
Are we going to look back on this time as the beginning of the decline of the US?

The USA has BEEN in decline for decades. Use any measure of creativity, productivity, leadership or progress. What we need now is not a debate about how best to prop up the failing country club class of pseudoleaders, but a debate about how to wrestle with the roots of the decline.
China? They are quickly headed for a quicker decline.
Look around the world and try to identify where there are peoples who are productive, thrifty, creative, hardworking and have traditions of stable self-government.
Then go invest there.
I just wonder about exactly how far we'll decline... how bad it really will get.
